Parking Permit Policy
Driving to school and parking at St. John Paul II is a privilege, not a right, that may be revoked for violation(s) of St. John Paul II driving policies. This form must be completed, signed, and turned in prior to driving to school and parking in St. John Paul II designated parking areas. Students and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are aware of the following guidelines:
1. All student drivers must be of legal age and have a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
2. Student drivers will park in designated parking areas only which are labeled on the asphalt. Parking permits must be displayed on the rear view mirror at ALL times.
3. If a student does not have their parking permit, they must inform the security officer upon arrival at the school.
4. Student drivers will abide by all safety regulations and adhere to the posted speed limit around the school, driving no faster than 10 MPH when in the assigned student parking area.
5. Students will not enter the student parking lot through the St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School entrance, located just south of campus.
6. Student drivers may not cut through the parking lot to get to their parking spot.
7. Students will only park in the assigned parking area at the northeast section of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. This section is St. John Paul II’s assigned parking area. All other parking areas are off-limits to student drivers.
8. Student drivers will not drive their car from the school grounds without permission. St. John Paul II is a closed campus, and this includes the parking area at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
9. Students are not allowed to return to their cars during the school day at any time without the permission from an Administrator.
10. Students may not park in staff, visitor or reserved spaces in any designated fire lane.
11. St. John Paul II Catholic High School assumes no responsibility for any vehicle parked in the assigned parking area as well as lost or stolen items.
12. All vehicles must be in compliance with the State of Arizona vehicle registration regulations. Vehicles displaying expired registration will be issued a warning and may not be allowed to park on campus if the violation continues.
13. Students are responsible for alerting an Administrator of any changes in vehicles being parked or changes in their insurance policy.
14. Students will not loiter near their car at any time.
15. Any student found moving the traffic cones to allow access through closed driveways, or driving their vehicle through closed driveways, will be subject to disciplinary actions up to the loss of parking privilege on campus. This is a ZERO tolerance violation.
16. Fines for violating parking/driving procedures and policies are $10 per violation and/or LOSS OF PARKING PRIVILEGES
17. Vehicle Searches
Students, by virtue of having the privilege of parking a motor vehicle on school property, are deemed to have given prior consent for a search of any motor vehicle that has been brought by the student or his/her companions onto school premises. Vehicles may be searched if, in the opinion of the administration, suspicion of a school violation exists. Upon request by the Principal or administrative personnel, the student or driver will immediately relinquish the keys to the motor vehicle subject to the search, and the student will remain with administrative personnel until released by the appropriate school official.
